MCCREARY COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL

This project involved the renovation and addition to an existing middle school in Sterns, KY.  Two separate classroom additions were added, along with a new cafeteria and internal elevator addition.  Many structural modifications to the existing building were required, including the trimming and reinforcing of open-web steel floor joists and wood roof trusses for the elevator addition.  The school district also requested a new basement area under the new cafeteria addition–after construction was well underway!  This required creative solutions from the design team to utilize what had already been constructed and provide the district the end product they desired.
